Shady Grove Nurses Teach Local Kids about Germs

The students in Mrs. Madej’s kindergarten class have a new perspective on hand washing — literally. Last March, the kindergarteners at Washington Grove Elementary School in Gaithersburg, Maryland received a visit from Catherine Hungerford, RN, CIC, an infection control nurse at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. Hungerford and other nurses from Shady Grove visit local schools to educate students about the importance of germ prevention. During her visit to Mrs. Madej’s class, Hungerford used a stuffed “germ” and other “hands-on” techniques to teach the students the proper way to wash their hands.
