Healthier Lives in Kent County

Kent On the Move is a local initiative started by Chester River Hospital Center to help individuals and communities in Kent County make positive changes to improve health and quality of life. A collaborative effort among local citizens, government, business and industry, health and education, Kent On the Move develops and promotes programs and resources to decrease overweight and obesity, and increase physical activity and healthy eating. The program strives to increase accessibility to healthy choices by improving the environment in which we live, work, and play, while empowering individuals with the knowledge to make healthy life choices for better nutrition and physical well-being.

A resource guide of county-wide activities and health-oriented organizations has been published and distributed throughout the county. Quarterly newsletters are distributed and a Web site is maintained with pertinent information. The program also encourages area businesses to establish worksite wellness programs, such as healthy vending choices and fitness programs. Chester River Hospital Center's executive leadership and clinical staff participate in the planning and implementation of these programs.
