Improving hospitals' use of women and minority-owned businesses.
The goal of MHA’s Women- and Minority-Owned Businesses Initiative (WMBI) is to improve hospitals’ utilization of women- and minority-owned businesses by creating an environment where contracting with minority businesses is the norm. The approach to achieving this goal is three-pronged:
- Educate members about WMBI, generally Minority-Owned Business Enterprise (MBE) programs, and the importance of a strong minority business community
- Develop a model policy to assist hospitals in implementing WMBI goals within their own organizations and provide the necessary tools, guidance, and resources for a baseline data collection and reporting mechanism to help hospitals assess and track their participation with minority businesses
- Foster relationships between hospitals and the minority business community
